Rains County Sanitation Worker Struck by Vehicle This Morning on Highway 19. Pronounced Dead at the Scene.

A Rains County sanitation worker was killed early this morning while working along Highway 19.
DPS reports that Gary Michael Bishop of Rains County was struck by a vehicle travelling south on Highway 19 this morning around 6 am. Bishop was performing his work duties along the side of the highway when the Sulphur Springs woman’s vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Traffic was redirected for a few hours as emergency personnel worked the scene of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle has not been charged with a crime. DPS is still investigating the accident.
