When buying a home, you need to consider more than just the mortgage amount. Property taxes also impact your monthly costs. 
 
Living in the city versus living in the county makes a difference as taxes in the city limits are usually higher than those located outside the city limits. Where you live can greatly affect your bottom line. 
 
Which county and school district, where the house is located, also determines the total tax amount you’ll have to pay. And these amounts can be vastly different from one part of the same county to another. So when factoring the cost of a new-to-you home, consider what your estimated taxes will be on that house. That will require more than just looking at what the previous owners paid.
