Romans 8:35-37

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long;we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us

Have you noticed that today’s scripture asks the question ‘Who’ shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Even though the things it goes on to list are not people at all.  Most people read over this promise not noticing  that it’s seems to be misstated.  While it may seem like an unimportant bit of information, the fact that Paul asks ‘Who’ instead of ‘What’ says a great deal.  Even though all of these circumstances are not people, they are always brought into your life by people.  You don’t have to be very far along in years to realize that people are quick to say and do things that can, if you let them, take your peace and joy.  The truth that you need to hold on to is that none of these things can separate you from the love of Christ.  Not only should they not separate you from His love, they shouldn’t hinder you from showing His love either.  The very people who are bringing these difficulties into your life are the ones who need to see the love of God shown to them the most.  If you’ll allow it to, that same love will make you ‘more than a conqueror’ when these difficulties come against you.  His love through you can overcome any trial or persecution that people may bring your way.  – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
