Henderson Co. Sheriff asks for public help in identifying 2012 remains
  • PublishedJuly 24, 2023

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has reopened a cold case dating back to 2012 after human remains were discovered in the vicinity of Flag Lake Road and County Road 2448.

Deputies were alerted to the discovery of the skeletal remains and immediately launched an investigation in coordination with the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers.

The human remains, believed to be that of a male between the ages of 21 and 60, were found on a property in the Seven Points area. Authorities have described the individual as possibly being of white or Hispanic descent. In an effort to aid the investigation, the University of North Texas Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology analyzed the remains and provided a sketch depicting what the male might have looked like.

Despite exhaustive efforts, the Sheriff’s Office has been unable to identify the deceased using missing person records. As a result, they are now seeking the public’s assistance in shedding light on this mysterious case. Anyone with information related to a missing male matching the description provided, from the relevant time frame, is urged to come forward and contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office immediately.

Note: The sketch provided by the University of North Texas Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology is included with this article to aid in the identification process. Members of the public are encouraged to share this sketch widely in the hope that it reaches someone who may recognize the individual.
