Sulphur Springs attorney to run for open District 2 Seat

Local attorney Heath E. Hyde has announced his candidacy for the now-vacant Texas State Representative District 2 Seat.

Hyde is a Sulphur Springs native who serves as a defense attorney. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University.  Hyde served as assistant district attorney in Dallas County before going into defense. He also served as a clerk under U.S. Attorney James A. Rolfe.

Hyde and his wife have one child and are members of Sulphur Springs First Baptist Church.

District 2 incorporates Hopkins, Hunt, and Van Zandt Counties. The seat is now vacant after the resignation of Bryan Slaton (R-Royse City) on Monday. A special election for the seat will be called sometime in June, according to the legislature.
