Week 4 of the Texas High School Football season is here! At this point, all three Hopkins County teams have at least one win, and will have a chance for all three teams to end this week with a .500 record or better. Will this be the week that all three Hopkins County teams walk away with a win?

Sulphur Springs @ Van Alstyne

After back-to-back home games to start the season, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats find themselves on the road once again this week. The Wildcats are coming off their first loss of the season, although they put up a great fight in the second half and almost got themselves back in it against a strong Hallsville team.

This week, the Wildcats will be looking to shake off that loss and improve to 3-1, while also picking up their first road win of the season. Though Sulphur Springs ins’t favored in the matchup, it is predicted to be a very close game.

Dave Campbell’s has this as the closest match for any Hopkins County team this week, with Van Alstyne being a one-point favorite. The Van Alstyne Panthers are currently 1-2 and looking to get back to .500, after a crushing 68-25 loss to Sulphur Springs’ district rival, Anna.

The Wildcats have been great on defense this year, and are the healthiest they’ve been on offense all season, after receiver CJ Williams was a full return last week, racking up over 170 total yards and a touchdown. Sulphur Springs has won a matchup in which they were the underdog once already this season, will they be able to do it again this week and improve to 3-1?

Como-Pickton vs Tom Bean (Homecoming)

The Como-Pickton Eagles enter Week 4 of the season with a 1-2 record and a perfect chance to get back to the .500 mark. After back-to-back weeks on the road, the Eagles are finally back at home and the fans can’t wait to cheer on their team.

It’s also Homecoming for Como-Pickton, which will give them some added fuel to the fire. The Eagles are 1-0 in games in which they score double-digit points, and Dave Campbell’s has them as a seven-point favorite against Tom Bean.

Tom Bean is also 1-2 and will be looking to avoid a third consecutive loss. Tom Bean has scored just a combined 13 points in the last two weeks, while the Eagles have held their opponents to just 14 points on two separate occasions this season.

Will the Eagles be able to defend their home field on Homecoming night and get back to the .500 mark?

Cumby vs Tyler All-Saints (Homecoming)

The Cumby Trojans enter Week 4 of the season feeling good. They not only are coming off their first win of the season, which was a 24-0 shutout over Mercy Culture Prep, but they also host 0-3 Tyler All-Saints for their Homecoming match.

The first two weeks of the season saw back-to-back losses for Cumby, though both of them were close. The Trojans lost a close 36-28 battle against Tom Bean, before falling in an even closer 18-12 match against Union Grove.

Now with a 1-2 record and looking to get back to the .500 mark, the Trojans are a 22-point favorite this week according to Dave Campbell’s. With the momentum of their first win and the Homecoming crowd behind them, the Trojans should have what it takes to get another win and improve to 2-2.
