Although the the high school softballs season has been over for a few weeks, the accolades and honors are still being dolled out. Recently it was announced, that ace pitcher for the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats, Crimson Bryant, was selected to participate in the TGCA Red-Blue All Star game.

The All Star games are broken down into different classifications, with Bryant being selected to the 5A-6A Red All-Star team. The game is set for July 16 in Arlington.

Bryant had a great season for the Lady Cats, being named MVP of District 15-5A, helping lead her team to yet another district championship. As the ace of the team, Bryant finished the season with a record of 21-2.

Not only was Bryant the ace of the team, she was also a workhorse, racking up 160 innings of work. In her 160 innings, Bryant allowed just 16 runs, giving her an incredible ERA of 0.10.

Perhaps even more impressive than her ERA, was her number of strikeouts this season. In 160 innings of work, Bryant struck out a jaw-dropping 346 batters, striking out over two batters per inning on average.

She also allowed just 66 hits and 30 walks this year, giving her a WHIP of 0.60. WHIP is a stat that measures how many walks and hits you allow per inning pitched.

Bryant and the other selectee’s were chosen by a committee, picking players who they felt were most deserving, after being nominated by coaches. The TGCA Red-Blue All Star game for 5-6A will be played July 16 in Arlington. More updates on the game will be provided on Front Porch News.
