April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and Lake Country CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) invites all Hopkins County residents to show their support for children in need.

Friday, April 1st is “Go Blue Day”.  The community is encouraged to wear blue, the official color of prevention, to show their support for victims of child abuse and neglect and those who work to protect them.

CASA will also have a Superhero Walk in April.  Throughout the month CASA encourages the community to go for a walk anytime, anywhere, take a picture on the walk, and post it on social media using the hashtag #lakecountrycasa as another way to show their support.

The CASA volunteers will be participating in the Superhero Walk as a group at 9:45 am on Wednesday, April 6th starting at 218 Connally Street.  They will walk around the square and end at the courthouse steps to listen to Judge Newsom read the Child Abuse Awareness Proclamation at 10 a.m. The public is invited to join to show support.

Local elementary schools will be participating in the Superhero Walk on Thursday, April 7th at various times throughout the day.

Finally, on Sunday, April 24th CASA encourages local faith communities to participate in Blue Sunday by praying for victims of child abuse and the people who work to protect them.
