Sulphur Springs senior Brooklynn Burnside made it official Friday, signing with Cisco College to continue her volleyball career. Burnside has played a huge role for Sulphur Springs the past few seasons, even earning a few superlative awards along the way.

This year, Burnside was named the Blocker of the Year, after helping lead the Lady Cats to another postseason berth. Burnside finished the year with an impressive 141 total blocks, including 72 solo blocks. The Lady Cats senior averaged over one block per set and just under four blocks per match. It was Burnside’s second consecutive season to win Blocker of the Year, as she also won the award her junior year as well.

In her junior season Burnside once again played a huge role for the Lady Cats, helping lead them to a 10-2 district record and a win in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. Burnside led the team with 13 kills and four blocks in their 3-0 win.

Over the course of her junior season Burnside had an impressive 213 kills, as well as a team-high 115 blocks. She had a great sophomore campaign as well, racking up 221 kills and 39 total blocks, while being named First Team All-District.

The two-time blocker of the year will now be taking her talents to Cisco College, where she will hope to find that same success. Cisco College went 18-19 this past season and 6-6 in conference play.
