Owls extend winning streak to 3 games

The Yantis Owls hosted Greenville Christian Tuesday, looking to extend their winning streak to three games. The Owls have started their season off strong, winning seven of their first eight games, four of which came by 15 points or more.

Yantis kept their streak alive, dominating the entire game. Giving their home crowd another huge win to be excited about, the Owls cruised to an easy 73-39 victory.

Nikolas Johnson had a huge game for Yantis, almost outscoring their opponents by himself. Johnson had an exciting 36-point effort, draining nine 3-pointers, while shooting 48% from long range. Johnson also shot a very efficient 4-6 inside the 3-point line, having a great game all around.

Devin Lutz had an excellent outing as well, finishing with 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Lutz went 5-10 inside the 3-point line and made five of his six free throws attempts. Swiping a pair of steals as well, Lutz played a huge role in the blowout win.

Also scoring in double-digits for Yantis was Alex Lopez, who had 10 points. Lopez was very active in other areas as well, finishing with game-high’s in steals (5) and assists (3). Lopez knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the game as well.

Also scoring for Yantis were Brant Harville and Elgin Curry who had five points and four points respectively. Harville also pulled in six rebounds in the 73-39 win.

The win pushes the Owls record to 8-1 to open the year. They will be playing in the Mount Enterprise tournament starting Thursday. Coverage of their weekend will be published on Front Porch News.
