Hornets pick up home win

The Miller Grove Hornets hosted the Sam Rayburn Rebels Tuesday for a non-district match. The Hornets came into the match with their heads high, coming off a 61-29 win in their last outing.
Miller Grove played a strong game with their defense once again being at the forefront. The Hornets have only allowed 40 or more points in one of their wins this season and they kept that trend going Tuesday, winning the game by a final score of 48-37.
Lexton Sly led the way offensively for the Hornets, finishing with 15 points. Sly also had seven steals, four rebounds and a pair of assists.

Also finishing in double-digits was Tanner Hensley, who had a strong 12-point outing. Hensley led the team in a number of Caterogies, including rebounds (6), steals (4) and deflections (4).
Jagger Qualls had a nice outing in the 11-point win, posting eight points, two rebounds and one steal. Landon Burnett also had a strong contribution, scoring seven points, while also finishing with four steals, three rebounds and a block.
Ryker Haivala had five points, as well as two rebounds and two deflections, while Jacob George had one point, two assists, two rebounds and a steal.
The win pushes the Hornets record to 6-3 to open the season. Miller Grove will have a busy weekend as they are back in tournament play, starting with a game against Trenton Thursday. Coverage of their weekend will be published on Front Porch News.
