Freedom Rail, operator of the Northeast Texas Rural Rail Transportation District (NETEX) reported during the month of July they replaced 239 ties, fixed three bridges, and saw no derailments.

“Our safety is good, so everybody is happy about that,” Freedom Rail’s Amanda Fernandez told the NETEX board.

The 239 ties were spread throughout the railroad, Fernandez said. All bridges Freedom Rail fixed in July were located in Hopkins County.

Two of the repaired bridges were located close to the Sulphur Springs water treatment facility, while the remaining repaired bridge was located on Farm Road 69.

Furthermore, Freedom Rail repaired 43 areas as outlined by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Fernandez said. The FRA inspects NETEX track every 20 days, Freedom Rail proprietor Mike Salek noted.
