Sulphur Springs Man That Choked Female Victim “Cross-Eyed” Arrested by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 48 year old Sulphur Springs man on Friday night after he allegedly choked a female victim to the point she went “cross-eyed”, according to arrest reports.

Deputies were called to a residence on Highway 19 N in reference to an assault near 10 pm. Deputies made contact with Gregory Dan Mitchell and the victim.

After viewing injuries and speaking with both Mitchell and victim, it was determined that the Mitchell was the primary aggressor in the assault. The victim told officers that Mitchell placed his hands around her throat to the point where she went “cross-eyed”.

Mitchell was taken into custody and transported to Hopkins County Jail. He is charged with Assault Family Violence-Impeding Breath/Circulation.

Both Mitchell and victim’s injuries were photographed. He did have injuries consistent with what the victim stated she did in self-defense.
