Funeral services for Edith Nell Knighten, 83, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Evening Chapel Church with Rev. Gailyn McCurdy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Luke Cemetery with Gerome Walker, Fredrick Smith, Donta Clayton, Weldon Wright, Geramie Chisom, and Terry Wright serving as pallbearers. There will be a come and go visitation held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., both Thursday and Friday, November 12th, and 13th, 2020 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Edith passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born on December 27, 1936 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Henry Clayton and Hallie Mae Wright Clayton. She worked as a custodian for Sulphur Springs ISD for many years and was a member of Evening Chapel Church. She is survived by step-children, Gary Lynn Knighten, Clyde Leroy Knighten, Pamela Sue Knighten, sisters, Gloria Clayton, Anita Walker, grandchildren, Amber Knighten, Macy Nicole Knighten, Bryce Avery Knighten, and great-grandchildren, Ta’Kira Henderson, A’Ziyah Zlough, Devin Crosby, Aaliyah Crosby, and King Crosby. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willie B. Knighten, son, Byron Keith Knighten, great-granddaughter, Angel Crosby, and brothers, Marvin Clayton, and Bennie Clayton.
