City of Commerce Announces City Manager Selection

COMMERCE, TX (September 30, 2020) – The Commerce City Council has announced that it has selected Howdy Wayne Lisenbee as the new City Manager for the City of Commerce. The City selected Strategic Government Resources to assist in conducting the extensive search that resulted in an impressive candidate pool. SGR is an executive recruitment firm based in Keller, Texas, specializing in recruiting leaders for local governments. SGR’s proprietary recruitment and vetting process produced an incredibly strong field of candidates. The City received 49 applications from candidates in 15 states and two countries.

Lisenbee will arrive in Commerce November 2nd to begin work and has19 years of municipal government experience. He will be coming from Pecos, TX where he has served as Assistant City Manager in one of the most prolific oil producing areas of the world. Over his career, Mr. Lisenbee has worked to develop core infrastructure improvements to support community growth and economic activity. He states that he is looking forward to putting down roots and serving the community in a way that will build trust and provide top tier service. He has been married to his wife, Sharla, for 19 years. They have four children and four grandchildren.
