Hopkins/Rains Soil and Water Conservation District’s 2nd Annual Hay Show and Auction Accepting Submissions Set for October 20th

The Hopkins/Rains Soil and Water Conservation District is holding their 2nd annual Hay Show and Auction on October 20th.  The goals of the Hay Show is to provide agricultural producers an opportunity to test the quality of their forages, raise scholarship funds for area youth who want to study agricultural, and support area FFA and 4-H chapters with natural resources education.

Today, October 5th, is the last day for hay to be entered.  Drop-off locations are the Hopkins County Agrilife Extension Service in Sulphur Springs and the Rains County Agrilife Extension Service in Emory.

The Soil and Water Conservation District will host a BBQ lunch at 11:30 at the Civic Center in Sulphur Springs on October 20th at the Hopkins County Fall Festival.  Grand Champion and Reserve Grand will be recognized from each county.  The top 10 lots will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.  All proceeds and donations to the show are tax deductible per IRS code, section 17(c)(1).
