4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
As a believer it’s easy to get caught up in all of the ‘inner workings’ of Christianity. Many believers get so caught up in all of the do’s and don’ts that their Christian walk gets more difficult than it should be and frustration begins to set in. The way this happens is very simple and It’s because of this simplicity that most people miss it happening all together. When you were first saved the Bible says that you were brought out darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). At that same moment, the enemy, using the tools of religion and works, begins to try to draw you away from the light that came from your new life in Him. Darkness can’t overcome light but, you can choose not to walk in it. What are you doing right now that is taking life from you instead of giving it? Obviously, things that the Bible calls sin need to be dealt with. But you must look for any thing that may be keeping you from walking in the light. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern what it is the He’s asking you to do and what you’re doing just for the sake of doing it. Ask Him if what you’re doing is just a good thing or is it truly a God thing. The enemy can’t take away your salvation but He can deceive into doing so much religious ‘stuff’ that you stop walking in and being the light that He has made to be. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
