The historic Ashcroft House at 333 College Street has been designated a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark. This is the second building in Hopkins County to receive this designation. This is the highest honor given to a structure.

The Recorded Texas Historical Landmark marker was unveiled on Saturday at a ceremony in front of the Ashcroft House.  Mayor John Sellers, who serves as the Texas Historical Commission Marker Chairman for Hopkins County, hosted the ceremony and delivered a speech on the history of the home and the Ashcroft family. Constance McGill read the inscription of the marker after the unveiling. A brief reception was held afterwards for the attendees.
