Hopkins County Not Included On Initial Mask Requirement Exempt List. Mask Requirement Remains In Effect.

The Texas Department of Emergency Management has released the initial list of counties exempted from the governor’s executive order requiring masks in public.

43 counties have been exempted from the order. Delta County is the closest county to Hopkins County on the list.
Hopkins County is not on the list despite Judge Newsom applying for the exemption shortly after the governor released the order.
According to the order, “TDEM shall maintain on its website a list of counties that are not subject to this
face-covering requirement pursuant to paragraph number 11. The list can be found at: www.tdem.texas.gov/ga29.”
The mask requirement remains in effect in Hopkins County.
