Indian Summer Days Coming Up at Heritage Park This Saturday

Indian Summer Days will be held this Saturday, October from 5th 8:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m at Heritage Park.

Among log cabins, members in period costume will demonstrate early American skills such as butter churning, quilting, spinning, weaving, making apple butter, soap & candle making, tin punch, hide tanning, pottery making, archery, blacksrnithing, grinding com, Caddo Indian presentation and artifacts, & lots of kids’ activities. Other historic buildings in Heritage Park will be open, including the Chapel, General Store, Fire Station, Train Station, the first brick home built in Sulphur Springs, a sweet shop and bakery in a log cabin, and the first Log School in Hopkins County.

15th Annual John Chester Dutch Oven Cookoff

A main attraction will be the John Chester Dutch Oven Cookoff. From about 12:00 a.m. until the food is gone, attendees may sample Dutch oven food cooked over the coals of open wood fires by contestants in the John Chester Dutch Oven Cookoff. Other foods and drinks may also be purchased from the food concession booth.

Admission: $3.00 Children under 6 Free Tickets for sampling Dutch Oven entries — $5.00 near the gate.
