Recent Accolades Jed Walker Brings to Janet Martin Realty that You Might Not Know About

If you could say you “made it” in your career, what does that look like? For Jed Walker, it could be the culmination of obtaining a Real Estate Broker’s License and gaining a General Certified Appraiser license in the span of a few months.

The first week in March 2024, Jed officially became a licensed Real Estate Broker. He has been a licensed real estate agent, since 2016. But recently, he completed the advanced Broker’s training, passing the state and national tests—no small feat. This education provides him the opportunity, if he wanted, to have his own real estate company. However, he plans to continue at Janet Martin Realty, applying his added knowledge and expertise as a vital member of the team.

On top of that, after an arduous and challenging three years, Jed achieved a huge milestone in his appraisal business. Already a licensed residential appraiser since 2017, he upped his game to became a General Certified appraiser for both Texas and Oklahoma. He successfully completed and passed the tests for commercial and non-residential appraisals in December 2023. Working for Walker Appraisals, Jed has seen their office surpass 10,000 appraisals, going strong after 30 years.

Both in appraisals and real estate, Jed says that he is “proud of every single property I have appraised and every single person I have represented in a transaction, thankful for every opportunity I am given.”

But Jed is not done as he strives to better himself for his clients and those who place their trust in him. His next venture? Pursuit of MAI and ARA professional designations to add to his career. As part of that, he has joined both the Appraisal Institute and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA).

In his limited spare time, Jed has also been serving on the Sulphur SSISD Bond planning committee since the fall of 2023. He says, “It’s been a major learning experience and [he is] very hopeful that it passes to give our kids what they deserve.”

Married to his wife since 2018, Hope Walker received her Bachelor’s degree in education and currently works as a 7th grade English teacher at the Sulphur Springs Middle School. Just another contribution the Walkers give to Hopkins County.

They are also proud of their daughter, Aspen, who attends Travis Primary and is in the Dual Language program.

But no need to worry about Jed enjoying life. Having traveled to 4 different countries such as Norway, Iceland, the Grand Turk Island, and three trips to the UK, he puts his hard work to good use towards family time. Not to mention, his penchant for reading J.R.R. Tolkein books and a collection of vinyl records, cassettes, and CD’s.

Jed says, “My wife and I are proud nerds. The only thing I love more than real estate is my nerd stuff.” Which also includes their love for narrative driven video games, among other things.

Without a final finish any time soon, Jed’s professional life continues to reach new heights in order to better serve his clients. His growing credentials brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and elevates the expertise offered at Janet Martin Realty—achievements that continue to raise the caliber of professional service in Hopkins County.
