Obituary for Richard Ethridge

Visitation Service for Richard Ethridge, age 77, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Mr. Ethridge passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Richard Dean Ethridge was born on March 1, 1946 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Harvey J. and Opal Irene (Boykin) Ethridge. He was raised of the Baptist faith in Brashear, Texas and graduated from high school in Miller Grove.

 

On June 15, 1978, Richard married Judy Scarborough in Greenville, Texas. In 2023, they we married for 45 years. Richard retired from Atmos Energy in 2018 after 50 years in the gas industry as a service repairman.

 

He is survived by his wife, Judy Ethridge of Sulphur Springs, Texas; daughters, Katherine Taylor and her husband Eldon of College Station, Texas, Tina Ethridge of Virginia; son, Clifford Ethridge of Killeen, Texas. He is also survived by his nine wonderful grandchildren, Carson Taylor, Katlyn Ethridge, Colton Ethridge and his wife Kyra, Donovon Corbitt, Kezia Kinchen, Hannah Ethridge, Clifford Ethridge, Jr., Cayden Ethridge, and Camri Ethridge; brothers, Charles Ethridge of Winnsboro, Texas, Carol Ethridge of Shirley, Texas, Johnny Ethridge of Brashear, Texas; sister, Judy Ann Reed of Tira, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey J. and Opal Irene Ethridge; son, Carlton Dean (Dee) Ethridge; and brothers, Ray and Freeman Ethridge.
