Lady Eagles Clean Up District Awards After Strong Season

Lady Eagles Clean Up District Awards After Strong Season
  • PublishedFebruary 21, 2024

The 2023 season was a strong one for the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles, once again making the postseason and even advancing to the Area Round. Unfortunately their season has come to an end, but they announced the district awards Wednesday, with a number of Lady Eagles being recognized for their strong play.

The season got off to a rocky start for Como-Pickton, as they won just one of their first five games, though they were playing against bigger competition. From there the Lady Eagles would win 18 of their final 28 games.

The Lady Eagles finished the season on an incredibly high note, ending the regular season on a three-game winning streak, which they won by an average score of 42-29. The three-game stretch helped them secure their playoff berth, where they would go on to face Harts Bluff.

In the Bi-District match against Harts Bluff Como-Pickton played some of the best basketball of their entire season. Addi Monk and Kati Calvillo led the way offensively, combing for 29 points and outscoring Harts Bluff entirely, while doing so on an efficient 12-21 from the field.

The Lady Eagles went on to face Muenster in the Area Round and while they gave it their best effort, would unfortunately have their season ended in the Area Round for the second season in a row. Now, with every team in the district being knocked out, they were able to announce this years district awards.
