Quality of sleep!

How does sleep quality affect night time bladder urgency and frequency?

The pituitary gland is a small pea sized gland at the base of your brain. It acts as the body’s master gland and tells the other glands in your body what to do.

During the deepest stages of sleep, the pituitary gland secretes hormones (antidiuretic hormone is one of them) that communicate with cells to store more water.

This is how you are able to sleep through the night without needing to urinate or hydrate.

So, if you are waking during the night feeling thirsty or needing to urinate, your sleep quality should be addressed in addition to other things like the type of fluids consumed prior to bed, constipation, etc.

What can you do to improve the quality of sleep? Read more here.
