Importance Of Mental Health And Exercise By Addison Caddell
With the start of the school year and holidays right around the corner, the busy season is the most important time to keep up with mental health. Often overlooked, a person’s mental well-being is vital to high performance in work, school, and sports.
A great way to stay mentally and physically fit is through exercise. In Hopkins County, there is an amazing community built around the foundation of staying fit and getting moving. There are countless ways to get involved and there are so many ways to do it! High and low impact, indoor and outdoor, with a group of people or solo, there is a way to get active.
Beth Cole is an instructor at Anytime Fitness and offers a multitude of programs including HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Spin or cycling classes, and Pumped-Up Strength which is more low-intensity training. Beth said, “All classes are widely different but each one presents an opportunity to connect with a great group of people, prove that you are capable of exceeding your own expectations, and grow as an athlete and person.”
Exercise has been proven to release positive endorphins, reduce stress, enhance cognitive function and mental clarity, improve sleep quality, increase self-esteem, and provide weekly positive social interaction. Hopkins County provides a positive network of like-minded people who are focused on improving their mental and physical health every day.
