Sulphur Springs offers countless flavors at popular sno cone stands

Sulphur Springs offers countless flavors at popular sno cone stands
  • PublishedJune 15, 2023

If you were to ask anyone in Sulphur Springs what their favorite sno cone stand is, you would receive a different answer every time. Some are old and some are new, yet each stand is unique and has different experiences to offer customers.

The Pink Stand

The oldest sno cone stand in Sulphur Springs is The Pink Stand. The Pink Stand was opened in the 1990s by Rita Miller. Since then, it has had five different owners– the most recent being Maci Fowler. When asked what sets the Pink Stand apart from other stands she said, “The secret flavor called homemade ice cream.” Being the most popular flavor, the stand keeps the recipe a well-kept secret among the owners.

With each new owner, the stand has gone through many changes, in fact, starting this week The Pink Stand will be bringing back their flavor of the week, which will be a new flavor with extra add-ons every single week. One of their biggest hits is “coconut cream pie” and it comes served in a real coconut shell. The Pink Stand offers over 200 different flavors and a wide range of toppings for each customer.

The Shave Shop

The Shave Shop is owned by Clay Hansford. It is a mobile shop that can travel anywhere for any event. Recently the shop has found a new full-time location at The Rail Yard in Sulphur Springs. Hansford started the truck as a part-time gig in the summer, little did he know it would take off and become a full-time job.

The shop has developed relationships with many local and surrounding schools to help with fundraising by giving back a percentage of the sales. “The kids and teachers love it, and we love giving back to the community.” Hansford said.

Hansford mentioned that “Having a full-time location has allowed us to experiment with new flavors.” The shop offers the regular menu as well as fresh fruit flavors made with real fruit—making them, “healthy, fresh, and delicious” Hansford said. The Shave Shop offers a wide range of unique flavors and is now in a great location for customers to enjoy.

B’s Tropical Sno

B’s Tropical Sno is the only chain snow cone stand in Sulphur Springs, but the story of the stand makes it very unique. The brand started back in 1984 and the first location was in Provo, Utah. Now there are dealers in every state and in thirty countries around the world.

Brandon and Marie Hodges have owned and operated the stand since 2012. Brandon said, “The building was the same building I started working in when I was a kid.” Now their own children work there, keeping the tradition alive.

They offer hundreds of flavors and endless combinations, including ice cream, cream, and other fun toppings. Brandon said that “Being a part of the community is a huge piece of what keeps us going.” B’s Tropical Sno is committed to its tradition of family and community as it has been passed down for generations and will continue for generations to come.

Sulphur Springs is home to many incredible sno cones stands with amazing stories. Each is committed to the community and proud to serve in Sulphur Springs. During the hot summer days, there is nothing better than a cold sno cone, now the only question is, “What stand and what flavor?”
