  • PublishedMay 3, 2023

Last Friday, Como-Pickton hosted a Special Olympics Fun Day. CP athletes joined by Rains ISD special athletes participated in track and field events.  Thanks to Alliance Bank for furnishing our hot dog lunch and thanks to our High School and Elementary Student Council for volunteering at our special event. It was a wonderful day!

Susan Ukleja on left and Vanetta Plumber on far right from the Quitman Pilot Club presented Lydia Walden, Assistant Superintendent of Como-Pickton CISD with a check for $500 for the CPCISD Special Olympics Team.  The Quitman Pilot Club is a charitable non-profit service group dedicated to improving the lives of people in their community within the mission, scope and guiding principles of Pilot International in three areas: Brain Safety & FitnessSupporting Youth and Caring for Others. They do this in many ways, with great fun and friendship making along the way. The Pilot Club of Quitman is an all-volunteer organization with three mission areas.

1.) Educating for the prevention of traumatic brain injury and offering services to those suffering from brain related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, Stroke, and Autism.

2.) Advocating, encouraging and supporting the development and leadership opportunities for youth.

3.) Supporting those that care for others.
