Lady Cats Look To Put Series Away In Game 2

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats opened postseason play with a big 10-0 win over Lindale Thursday. Friday afternoon, they will have a chance to put the series away and advance to the Area round.
Thursday’s win against Lindale came in the same fashion that all but two of the district wins did, via the run-rule. Ace pitcher Crimson Bryant was electric, finishing just one walk shy of a perfect game. She also had a dozen strikeouts in just five innings of work, as the Lady Cats were able to add four runs in the bottom of the fifth to complete the 10-0 win.
Graci Adair got the scoring started for Sulphur Springs, hitting an RBI single to right that scored Nicole Higgins. An inning later it was freshman KK Montgomery who made a huge contribution, coming up with the bases loaded and clearing the based with a triple in the right-center gap.
Three-hole hitter Reese Ragan also had a great game at the plate, having a three-hit game with a double. Her only out was a hard line drive to center. Shortstop Emerson Thompson also had a multi-hit game, including an RBI single.
Game Two of the best-of-three series is set for Friday at 4 p.m. at Commerce High School. The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. but was moved up due to weather concerns.
