Obituary for Gearld Flanery
Graveside service with Military Honors for Gearld Flanery, age 85, of Peerless, will be held at 1:00PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at Peerless Cemetery with Bro. Brock Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Flanery passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at his residence.
Gearld was born March 7, 1938 in Dekalb, TX to George Flanery and Leota (Sellers) Flanery. He served in the National Guard of Texas and the U.S. Army. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, PaPa and great-grandpa. He was also a great friend and mentor. He loved to preach the Gospel and retired from Grocery Supply Company as a mechanic.
He left behind his loving wife of forty years, Julie Flanery. They enjoyed the great outdoors and adventuring together. Together they had 10 kids, four of which have preceded in death, sons, Lewis Flanery, Refard Flanery, Richard Ewton and daughter, Carol Lynch. Six children survive, sons, Russell Flanery and wife, Tina; Gary Shoults and wife, Trisha; Troy Ewton and wife, Madonna; Glen Ewton and wife, Lynn; and William Ewton; daughter, Missy Littrell and husband, Melvin Littrell, Jr.; brothers, Archie Flanery, Harold Flanery, Paul Flanery and Clyde Flanery; and sister, Betty Deverell. They have nineteen grandkids and thirty great-grandkids that survive and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gearld was preceded in death by his parents, fours brothers, and two sisters.
