Huge second half leads Wildcats JV team to 20-point win

The Wildcats started off the night with a kickoff return by Drake White for 15 yards. The first drive for the Cats started at their own 45, with Jaylen Thompson with a 14-yard gain on his initial carry. Cats stayed on the ground and Thompson picked up another first down before completing a swing pass to White who broke multiple tackles before finally going down at the three-yard line. Baxton Wall called his own number and scored on a quarterback keeper. Christobol Torres continued his stellar special teams play with another perfect extra point, giving a 7-0 Cats lead early in the first quarter.

The Community Braves started their first possession from their own 35. Sulphur Springs defense held tight and forced a three and out.
On their second drive the Cats went to work in the air. Wall completed multiple passes to Colton Privitt gaining 25 yards. Unfortunately the Cats’ drive stalled, forcing a punt.
The Braves broke a swing pass through the Cats secondary taking the ball all the way to the Cats third yard line. Community pushed the ball in on second down for a touchdown. The extra point came up short, making the score 7-6.
The Cats’ offense went back to work at their own 40. Sulphur Springs offensive line made some big hole that Thompson ran through on three consecutive plays picking up yards. Not to be left out 26 broke through on the next play for a long touch down run. Torres’ extra point kick was true again, putting the Wildcats out front 14-6.
Cats defense took the ball away with a fumble recovery on Community’s first play from scrimmage.

The Cats first play Wall completed a post route to Privitt taking the ball to the Braves two-yard line. Wall scored on a quarterback draw play. The extra point was blocked and returned deep. Privitt had a point saving tackle chasing down Braves returner. The Cats extended their lead 20-6.

The Braves picked up one first down on the ground before Jakiron Thompson had a nice tackle for a six yard loss. The Cats could not hold on at three and long. On the next play Community scored on a deep pass. Extra point was no good hitting the right upright. 20-12 Cats with 2:30 left in first half.
Unfortunately after a great return by Thompson who took the ball to midfield, the Cats turned the ball over on Wall’s first interception. The Braves made the Cats pay scoring on a sixth play 50 yard drive. Community was successful on the two point conversion attempt leveling the game at 20-20 going into halftime.
The first Braves drive of the second half the Cats forced another fumble. Recovered by Zachary Clark. The Cats offense made quick work scoring on a 3 play 45 yard drive with a completion from Wall to Dashawn Hightower. Torres put the extra point though going the cats 27-20 lead.
Sulphur Springs held Community to quick three-and-out. Privitt had nice 22-yard return on the punt giving the Cats excellent field position at midfield. 26 got drive strong start with a 23 yard run.  Cats stayed with hot hands and 26 added 13 more yards on the ground.  26 owned the drive making the final push into the endzone on an eight yard scamper breaking two tackles along the way.  Torres successful putting Sulphur Springs ahead 34-20.
On the ensuing drive the Braves had a methodical drive of 11 plays the resulted in their 4th score of the night. The Cats defense denied the two point conversion to maintain an 8 point lead.
Another rough return by White gave the Cats offense the starting field position at midfield yet again. Thompson bowled over defenders to pick 16 hard earned yards. Wall added twelve  more yards on a quarterback draw play. White scored on 20 yards strike from Wall.  The extra point was down the middle to extend the Cats lead to 41-26.
Sulphur Springs had great coverage on the kick to give Community a long field to work with. The Cats stop the Braves on a critical interception but Travyn Staton.

The Cats put the final nail in the coffin with a 54 yard touchdown run by 26. Kick was good to grow the lead to 48-26.
