Did you know Sulphur Springs has a “Little Free Library”? In fact, there are two locations: one in front of the Hopkins County Courthouse and one at Coleman Park.

The Little Free Library operates on the principle of take a book, leave a book– although those who do not have books to add to the collection are more than welcome to check a book out from the little library and return it whenever they are finished.

The two Sulphur Springs locations are often stocked with mystery series and romance novels, and sometimes have religious reading materials and technical texts.

The first Little Free Library was built in 2009 by Todd Bol and his partner Rick Brooks in Hudson, Wisconsin, and was designed to look like the one-room school houses of yesteryear, according to littlefreelibrary.org.

The idea of community reading spread, and there are now over 90,000 registered Little Free Libraries not only in the US, but in 91 countries across the world, according to littlefreelibrary.org.

So feel free to bring any old, worn out books you may have loved and read many times to Sulphur Springs’ Little Free Library– it may just inspire a love of reading with those in your community!
