Miller Grove teacher publishes Christian book for kids
Rolanda Hasten, a 5th/6th grade social studies teacher at Miller Grove ISD, is now a published author. During the week of April 28, she read from her children’s book A Day at the Beach for Miller Grove’s 2nd grade.
Ms. Hasten’s book can be purchased on Amazon, or at Good News! Christian Bookstore. She will appear at the book store on May 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to do a book reading and signing.
A Day at the Beach is a children’s book about the sounds, smells and sensations a visitor at the beach might experience. The book encourages the reader to unplug from the world for a day and just listen to the beautiful sounds that surround you.
Each page also contains a starfish illustration, which is a fun i-seek activity for younger children.
“A Day at the Beach is the perfect gift for yourself or someone you love that just needs to get away for a day,” Hasten said.
Hasten has been a resident of Hopkins county, Texas for the past 45 years. She teaches school and lives in Miller Grove, and attends church in Sulphur Springs at Central Baptist Church.
“I’m basically your ‘HomeTown’ girl,” Hasten said.
