The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hit the road Tuesday, traveling to Texarkana to face Texas High. The Lady Cats were looking to complete their series sweep over Texas High, after an exciting walk-off win in their last match against them.
Sulphur Springs wasted no time at all finding their offense, as Jadyn Harper led things off with a walk, followed by a single from Reese Ragan, which moved Harper over to third base. Addison Caddell followed with an RBI ground out, bringing in Harper and giving the Lady Cats a quick 1-0 lead.
The Lady Cats weren’t done scoring runs, however, as Crimson Bryant came up with a big RBI double, putting another run on the board. Kinz Smallwood and Katie Johns each reached base with a single and a walk respectively, although two runs was all Sulphur Springs would get out of the frame.
Working with a 2-0 lead, Bryant took the mound, looking to keep Texas High off the board. After allowing a walk and a single to open the frame, Bryant struck the next three batters out, putting a quick dent in her K total.
Tia Nash set the tone in the top of the second, hitting a solo home run to open the frame. The Lady Cats would then load the bases, thanks to a single from Harper and walks from Ragan and Bryant. Parris Pickett was able to bust the game wide open with a two-run double, before Kinz Smallwood hit an RBI single, giving Sulphur Springs a 6-0 lead.
Not satisfied with their lead, the Lady Cats doubled their run total in the top of the fourth, an inning which started with a single from Ragan and a double from Caddell. The Lady Cats went on to score six runs in the frame, most of which came via the walk, putting them ahead 12-0 entering the bottom of the fourth.

From there Bryant continued to dominate, needing just six more outs to get out of the game. After allowing a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth, Bryant went on to strikeout the next three batters.
Paige Seagraves took over in the bottom of the fifth, looking to close out the game. Seagraves stuck out the first two batters she faced, before getting a pop out to end the game, securing the 12-0 win for the Lady Cats.
Bryant picked up the win, throwing four shutout innings in which she allowed just five hits. Bryant walked just one batter and struck out nine.
Offensively it was a great day for Sulphur Springs, racking up 12 hits as a team. Harper, Ragan and Smallwood led the way with two hits each, while Pickett, Smallwood and Anahi Velasquez each had two runs batted in.
The win pushes the Lady Cats record to 19-1-2 on the year and keeps them undefeated in district play. They will look to stay unbeaten in district play and pick up a 13th consecutive victory in Thursday night’s Senior Night against Marshall.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with Senior Night festivities to be held before the game. Coverage of the game will be provided on Front Porch News.
