The Ms. Hopkins County Senior Pageant is looking for contestants in 2022.

The pageant, now on its 13th year, only has five entrants for the upcoming June 4 date.

The pageant is open to any Hopkins County woman age 60+.

“I am worried that we are not going to be able to have a pageant this year unless more ladies tell me that they are going to be in it,” said senior center director Karon Weatherman.

Awards given include Best Interview, Best Personality, Clydene Field Leadership Award, Best Philosophy of Life, Best Evening Gown, and Miss Congeniality as well as first and second runners up.

Sashes and tiaras are also handed out to all contestants.

“It is a fun and memorable evening. You will make new friends and have the time of your life,” Weatherman said, encouraging senior women to “Step out of your comfort zones and take a chance on life.”

There will be a fun contestants Tea Party on June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, with pageant rehearsal afterwards, so contestants “know exactly what to expect,” Weatherman said.

The pageant takes place June 4 at 6 p.m. at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, with free admission.

Current contestants include:

  • Sharon Baker
  • Linda Pickle Hill
  • Valerie Ross
  • Jan Massey
  • Marjean Allen
“This pageant is too important to let die because of lack of participation,” Weatherman said.

To sign up for the pageant, call 903-885-1661 or email mealaday@yahoo.com.
