The Miller Grove Hornets went up against Henrietta Midway Friday, for a touch battle in the Area round of the playoffs. The Hornets went into the game with a bunch of momentum, after beating Sulphur Bluff 44-30 in the opening round.

Miller Grove had a tough task on their hand, going up against the No. 19 ranked Midway Falcons. Despite going against a higher ranked team, the Hornets had full control of the game, winning by a final score of 54-36.

Lexton Sly was the leading scorer for Miller Grove, finishing with an impressive 20 points. Sly also had four rebounds and three deflections.

Just behind Sly were Tanner Hensley and Landon Burnett, who each had strong outings as well. Hensley had 16 points and seven rebounds, while Burnett had 14 points, nine boards and three blocks.

Jacob George and Bradley Nordin each had two points, while Ethan George had two rebounds. Ryker Haivala had one assist, one rebound and one steal.

The win advances Miller Grove to the Regional Quarterfinal, where they will go up against the No. 3 ranked Graford Rabbits. The two teams met in the Area round last year, when Graford walked away with a 58-49 victory, giving Miller Grove a chance at some revenge this go-round.

The two teams are set to face each other Monday at Burleson High School. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
