Wildcats soccer win alumni game in penalty kicks

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats soccer team held their annual alumni game Friday. There was a great turnout, with over 40 alumni across two games.
The varsity team was able to pull out a win in penalty kicks, after the game was tied 4-4. “This is such a great family and soccer community we are building!” Head coach Alexi Upton said. “Thanks for all that helped make it happen!”

Sulphur Springs was also supposed to host scrimmages against Wylie East and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill this weekend, but canceled due to weather. With their scrimmages officially over, the Wildcats begin the preseason portion of their schedule, when the games will begin to count against their record.
The Wildcats junior varsity are set to open things with a road game against Mineola Tuesday, before returning home Friday to host Pleasant Grove. Meanwhile, varsity will have their first tournament of the year this weekend, in Forney. Their first home preseason game is Tuesday, Jan. 11 against Terrell.
Sulphur Springs returns home again Tuesday, Jan. 18 to host Highland Park, and won’t be home again until Feb. 4 abasing Texas High.
