Sulphur Springs Wildcats’ big man Justin Haire held his signing day Wednesday at the Sulphur Springs High School gym. Haire signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Dallas Baptist University, joining former Sulphur Springs teammate Cameron Kahn who also plays at DBU.
“They made me feel at home,” Haire said about his decision to sign with Dallas Baptist. “And I’ll also get to play with Cameron Kahn again, he’s there and he made it feel like home and all the guys really welcomed me in well when I went in for my visit, so I really like the atmosphere.”

Haire has been a huge part of Sulphur Springs’ success over the last few seasons, helping lead them to the playoffs in each of the last three years. Haire was named the Offensive Player of the Year for District 15-5A last year and will look to help take the Wildcats to the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season with him on the team.
“I’ve been around a lot of good team basketball and I just want to play as a team,” Haire said. “I don’t want it to be about just one person. I want everyone to be able to touch the ball, everybody to be able to contribute, I mean we all have a role here and we all play it pretty well.”
The Sulphur Springs Wildcats season is set to get under way this week. Their home opener is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Paris.
