Communities In Schools-Sulphur Springs is raising money for kids in need by hosting a cornhole tournament on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.

CIS is a non-profit organization that works within Sulphur Springs ISD to help students stay in school and achieve in life.

The school-based coordinators work with teachers and school staff to identify and address challenges students face in school and at home. Some of the most common needs students have are related to basic necessities.

Each site coordinator keeps a “care closet” that contains clothing, shoes, school supplies, hygiene items, food, and other items that many families struggle to provide.

CIS has a goal of raising $1,500 to stock these care closets for the school year and is partnering with the Sulphur Springs County Club.

It will be a doubles tournament with a cost of $40 a person to play with cash prizes for the top three teams. Teams can register for $80. To register, simply download the Scoreholio Application and search for “CIS Cornhole Tournament.”

For more information or to sponsor, contact Lauren Spataro at lspataro@ntcc.edu or call 903-885-2158 ext 2219.
