Hopkins County officials and local businesses have worked together to ensure there will be a 4th of July fireworks show in downtown Sulphur Springs this year.

There will be live music beginning around 6 pm on July 4th followed by a patriotic demonstration by the local Military Coalition and Marine League. Fireworks will immediately follow at approximately 9:15.

This will take the place of the traditional Sulphur Springs Symphony League concert and fireworks show that has been postponed until September 5th.

The community is encouraged to bring chairs and enjoy themselves while socially distancing. Downtown restaurants will be set up to serve to-go food to attendees as well as inside their restaurants.

The event is being coordinated by Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom and Hopkins County Treasurer/Veteran’s Service Officer Danny Davis.

Local businesses including Alliance Bank, Grocery Supply, Bulkley Trucking and Texas Country Ford contributed to help the event take place.

Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom told us that he felt like the community needed the return to normalcy that the event can provide and that he feels the event is safe due to it fully taking place outdoors.
