Ephesians 6:17 (The Passion Translation)
…and take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God.
When most people think of the sword of the Spirit, they equate it to their actual physical Bible. They have this idea of swinging their Bible around like a sword and combating the enemy with it. What you have to understand is that the Words that are written on the page do you absolutely no good until they are transferred to your heart. The sword described in today’s scripture verse is not a literal, hand held, physical book but it’s the actually Word that you’ve received revelation of by taking it from the page and planting it in your spirit. The Bible that sits on your coffee table or in the windshield of you car is of absolutely no benefit to you. The only scripture that is going save or help you in any way is the scripture that you know on a spiritual level. Should you keep your Bible near you? Absolutely! Should you carry with you? Yes! Should you read it frequently? Of Course. Think about it like this. If for some reason you lost access to the Bible, in other words, you could never lay your hands on one again, would there be enough of it in you to keep you going? How many battles could you win with what’s on the inside of you right now? Sobering isn’t it. – Love and blessings, Pastor Jeff
