For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.
Many people don’t equate the cross with an altar but that’s exactly what it was. The rough gnarly cross pieces that the Savior of the world was placed upon to die is where life was poured out. The only perfect blood to ever exist ran down and filled the cracks and crevices of that wooden cross. At that moment there was more life in that dead wood than there was any place this side of Heaven. Jesus gave His life for your’s the death that He experienced was meant for you. The real Christmas tree is the cross. The lights and decorations should never overshadow the sacrifice and the Blood. The gifts that surround the base of the Christmas tree should never take priority over the gift that covered the ground around the cross. Life isn’t found in the celebration, the celebration is founded in the life that came from the precious blood of Jesus. – Merry Christmas! Pastor Jeff
