The increase is for $4,000 per step of the SSPD’s step plan and averages out to a 7% increase.

The goal of the pay increase is to help SSPD retain officers. The department has lost 6 officers in the last 3 years to departments with higher salaries. The new increase helps keep SSPD’s pay plan competitive with other departments in the area.

The vote by the council to approve the pay raise was unanimous.
