Memorial Service for Phillip Darity, age 79, of Sulphur Springs, TX will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Murray Orwosky Funeral Home, Sulphur Springs, TX. Jeff Gravens and Pete Wilson will officiate. Mr. Darity passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at his home in Sulphur Springs.

 

Phillip Wayne Darity was born on January 15, 1945 in Eagletown, OK to Walter Darity and Virginia (Ray) Darity. He served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam War veteran. He retired from the Kansas City Southern Railroad after many years of service. Phillip married Barbara Gentry in DeQueen, AR on September 30, 1977 and they had one son together. Phillip was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #221, Eastern Star, R.A.M #63 of Sulphur Springs, The Gideons International, Veterans of Foreign Wars (US), Vietnam Veterans of America – Chapter #0278, National Rifle Association (NRA), IBEW – past Master Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #221 and past District Deputy Grand Master of District 7.

 

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Darity and son, Anthony Darity and wife Erin and grandchildren, Byrd and Lake of San Antonio, TX, also survived by sons, Cliff Darity and wife Sherry of Enid, OK, Mark Darity of Eagleton, OK; sister, Pat Jones of Petal, MS; grandchildren Ashley Darity, Jacob Darity, Byrd and Lake Darity, and Kayla Darity; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Keifer Darity, Bryleigh and Ryleigh Talley, and Sylvanus Raub. Also survived by Joe and Sheila Shelton of Sulphur Springs, TX.

 

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Virginia Darity; sisters, Velma Winship, and Sharon Bohanan; niece, Shawna Hughes.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
