2023 Community Drug Awareness Seminar

2023 Community Drug Awareness Seminar
  • PublishedJuly 31, 2023

This past Friday, the Harris Family hosted a Community Drug Awareness Seminar at the Gray’s Building at Pacific Park in honor of their daughter, Angelica. Angelica passed away in November 2022 due to Fentanyl overdose. The family’s goal is to raise awareness on just how dangerous this world is. They preached on making sure your kids do NOT take candy, food, or anything from strangers. You can’t trust anyone these days. Their motto is “It doesn’t just affect your life, it affects everyone!” Fentanyl is the leading cause of death in Americans age 18 – 45 and will surpass Cancer, Heart Disease, and COVID 19 at the increased rate of 33% and higher per year.

The family also brought Pastor LaVelle Hendricks to not only inform the community on Fentanyl, but the dangers other drugs and alcohol as well. Mr. Harris and Hendricks informed us that since March of this year, 8 people have died in our community due to this drug. This is serious and we MUST do something about it. The family desperately asks to people of our community to come together and raise awareness to put a stop to this.
