Funeral service for Janis Kay Stokley, age 76 of Pickton, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro Mike Haun officiating. Interment will follow at Pickton Cemetery with Johnny Walker, Terry Lee Vails, Joey Satterfield, Johnathan Stokley, Kendall Glenn, Bruno Estrada, and Jerome Edwards serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Reeder, Gerald Caldwell, Jared Satterfield, Cody Jacobson, and Jonas Satterfield. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Stokley passed away on June 20, 2023 at her residence.

 

Janis was born on December 26, 1946 in Commerce, Texas to John Larner and Tommie Flo (Wharton) Jackson. She married Tom “Pete” Stokley on September 30, 1966 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were married for 51 years before his death. Janis worked as a certified home health aide and certified nurse’s aide for 20 plus years and was a registered cosmetologist out of high school. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Jana Sue Satterfield and husband, Terry; son, Jason Stokley and wife, Carmen. She has one surviving sister, Judy Ann Edwards and one surviving brother, Jerry Alan Jackson. She has several grandchildren, Jacee’ Satterfield and fiancé, Cody Jacobson, Joey Satterfield, Jonas Satterfield and wife, Kami; Jena Glenn and husband Kendall; Jessie Estrada and husband, Bruno, Jared Satterfield, Johnathan Stokley, Janey Stokley; great grandchildren, Jasper Davis Satterfield; brother-in-law, Gerald Caldwell.

 

Janis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Jean Caldwell and brother, Jimmy Jackson.

 

Donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
