The Cassie Edwards Scholarship Program is a non-profit formed to help raise scholarship funds for graduating high school seniors to pursue higher education, technical training, or a theological institute. It is named after Cassie L. Edwards, one of the first African Americans inducted into the National Honor Society in Hopkins County and a 1968 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. Unfortunately, she passed away the following year due to a short battle with cancer.

For their first event and scholarship fundraiser, they are having a banquet honoring the long-time educator with SSISD, Silvesta Alexander, who has taught for 50 years and been an employee for the last 53.

The Scholarship Education Banquet will be held at the new Gray’s Building in Pacific Park on April 16th, at 4:00 pm. We have four scholarship participants who are seeking sponsorship ads to promote the banquet. Funds raised from the sponsorships will provide the funds needed to award each participate with a scholarship and to celebrate Mrs. Alexander.

Sponsorship levels are Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Patron. Names and businesses will be listed in the Banquet Program.
