  • PublishedMarch 27, 2023

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and Lake Country CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) invites all Hopkins County residents to show their support for children in need. The Hopkins County Commissioners Court declared a proclamation on the morning of March 27 recognizing CASA and all they do for our community.

“Everyone in the community should become more aware of child abuse prevention and help parents raise their children in safe, nurturing environments,” said County Judge Robert Newsom.

March 27 is “Team Up” against child abuse- Wear a team shirt or jersey to show your support

March 28 is “Stand Together” against child abuse- dress with your friends in a group to show you all stand against child abuse

March 29 is “Stop Out” child abuse- get to boot goofin’ with your favorite cowboy boots or other boots to show you want to eradicate child abuse

March 30 is “Peace Out” to child abuse- wear tie dye and peace signs

April 1 is “Go Blue Day”.  The community is encouraged to wear blue, the official color of prevention, to show their support for victims of child abuse and neglect and those who work to protect them. Keep your blue up all April long! CASA will also “turn the town blue” as they display blue balloons, pinwheels and ribbons around town. They invite you to join!

April 27 is Super Hero night at our Sulphur Springs Chick-Fil-A. All community members are invited to dress as their favorite super hero and meet in the parking lot for carnival games, balloons, sno cones and more.
