Producers sold 3,439 head of quality pre-conditioned cattle Friday (February 17) at the Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO) cattle sale.

A total of 352 producer/members sold cattle in the sale that enjoyed a good attendance of buyers, sellers and visitors.

“The cattle all looked good, even though it was muddy, and the weather had been bad,” said David Fowler, co-owner of the livestock commission and a NETBIO director.

Fowler added, “the cattle market was really good —the best it has been in a long time.” A total of 30 buyers paid an average of $1,025.35 per head for the calves and yearlings.

There was a lot of bidding and buying activity over the Internet, keeping auctioneer and co-owner Joe Don Pogue busy. As a result of the online activity, buyers purchased a total of 1,155 head of cattle on the auction web site.

Fowler applauded the sale barn employees for their great work and the sellers for a great job of pre-conditioning and caring for their cattle. He also praised his partner, Joe Don, for doing a really good job of sorting the cattle for the sales.

The next NETBIO sale will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023. All the NETBIO sales are held at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction Market and begin selling at 1 p.m. The café is open all day of the sale.

The NETBIO Pre-Conditioned Stocker and Feeder Calf Sale gives producers a market place to offer their pre-conditioned calves and yearlings to buyers in load lot quantities. NETBIO holds eight pre-conditioned cattle sales per year.
