Best Things to Do in Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio is one of the most popular places to visit in Costa Rica, for a great reason. During the rain season, May to November, travelers find dry mornings and showers in the afternoons. The upside to this season is less crowds and lower prices. However during December to April, you’ll be joining most tourists during the busiest season. This is the ideal time for beach days and full outdoor excursions. If you’re planning a trip and have blocked out just enough time to hit the best places, find these spots first!

beaches in manuel antonio national park

Manuel Antonio National Park An obvious headliner on this list is one of the main attractions that travelers want to see. Aside from the wonderful beach views and mountain hikes of your dreams, this national park is an absolute must for those interested in close encounters of Costa Rica wildlife, educational guided tours throughout, incredible beaches and so much more. Check out our full guide to the park to see everything they offer.

Playa Espadilla Norte – If your trip allows for lounging in the sands of this beautiful coast, make it a point to see these during your stay. Playa Espadilla Norte is the main public beach of Manuel Antonio, and it’s the extension of Espadilla South inside the national park. It’s another stunning beach with many trees for shade, and even though you’re not inside the national park, you will still see wildlife like Iguanas on the beach. Spend a magical sunset at Espadilla or take some surf lessons because it’s excellent for beginners!

Chocolate and Coffee Tour – Costa Rica is one of the best countries to learn about chocolate and coffee production. As an important part of their economy, there are around 43,000 coffee farms and approximately 3,500 families growing cacao. Many of these families also produce their own chocolate that you will be able to taste after doing a tour. You’ll learn about collecting, fermenting, grinding, and everything about the chocolate-making process. You will be able to create and try your own-made chocolate creations. Additionally, you’ll learn about the huge coffee culture in Costa Rica, how to get the best coffee, and more. From picking the bean to the final cup.

La Fortuna waterfall Costa Rica

La Fortuna Waterfall Reminiscent of scene in the Jungle Book, and among the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Nauyaca houses two enormously powerful waterfalls on different levels with natural swimming pools. There are two entrances and multiple ways to get down to the waterfall. It’s about 1.5 – 2 hours away, making it a perfect to do from Manuel Antonio. Depart as early as possible from Manuel Antonio to avoid the crowds at the waterfalls. The Nauyaca Waterfalls are the ultimate natural paradise and one of the best places to visit in Costa Rica – an experience not to be missed!

With tours galore and food for everyone, Manuel Antonio is never short of new experiences. Make your time in Costa Rica worth while with the best this town has to offer. You wont regret signing up for a tour that taught you things about Manuel Antonio that you have never considered.
