Meet the Contestants for Dairy Festival Queen 2022

Being crowned queen of the Dairy Festival Pageant is one of the highest honors for a young woman in Hopkins County. 

The pageant will take place June 18 at 7:30 the Sulphur Springs High School Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance from contestants for $10 or for $15 at the door.

Contestants compete in:

  • Interview
  • Talent 
  • Evening gown (beauty and poise)

Those who place are awarded college scholarships, with further awards for highest ticket sales and talent. For the first time in 2022, the contestants will also be named the Tracey Gold-Fox Miss Congeniality Award.

The town can greet contestants for the first time in the parade (10 a.m.: Leave from Buford Park down Connally St. to Downtown Plaza, right on Gilmer to Kyle St.), and can also see their milking prowess at the milking contest. ( 3 p.m. at Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Livestock Pavilion)

Meet the contestants for 2022:

Miley Fisher, 17, is the daughter of Stan and Brandy Fisher. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing “Movement through the Years 1940-2010” as her talent. She has been involved in cheerleading, student council, key club, National Honor Society and youth on mission. She plans to attend Oklahoma State University and study speech language pathology. 

Colbie Glenn, 16, is the daughter of Jason and Hayley Glenn. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing a Broadway Show Tune Medley as her talent. She has been involved in National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Key Club, Student Council, FCCLA, Shining Star Productions, Haystack Productions, Sulphur Springs First Baptist Church, SSHS Jazz Band, and serves as Wally the Wildcat (SSHS’s school mascot). She was named All-American Mascot, Best Overall Mascot, is a two-time state solo and ensemble qualifier, two-time UIL area qualifier, three-time Texas Regional Choir member, and this past year performed the National Anthem at National Day of Prayer. She plans to obtain a degree in musical education with a minor in vocal performance and would like to become a high school music teacher. 

Jayden Holly, 16, is the daughter of Christopher Holly and Sonja Rush. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing a flag routine as her talent. She has served as vice president of Hi King Klub, received STAAR testing commendations, track and field, educational talent search member, AVID member, and has served as a youth leader. She plans to attend UT-Austin and major in political science. 

Ashland Hooten, 16, is the daughter of Pam and Nathaniel Hooten. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing Schubert as her talent. She has been involved in choir where she medaled at state three times, art, praise band, track and field in the pole vault event where she medaled third at state, Key Club, student council, Business Professionals of America where she medaled at state and National Honor Society. She plans to attend college and major in zoology, and would like to one day become the head of a zoo.  

Allison Peckham, 17, is the daughter of Bobby Peckham, Martha Kate and Cameron Evans. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing “Amazing Grace” on the cello as her talent. She has been involved in varsity cheerleading, Hi Key Klub, Key Club, cross country, FCA, track, First Baptist Church Youth on Missions. She is a volunteer for the Special Olympics and Handicapable Rodeo. In the future she would like to study nursing and specialize in emergency medicine in order to become a Careflight nurse. 

Brooklyn Shackelton, 17, is the daughter of Heather and Spencer Daniel. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing jazz and hip-hop dance as her talent. She is a part of cheer, powerlifting, National Honor Society, Key Club, Student Body, Student Council. She is a Prairie Valley Youth Helper and volunteers at Heart 2 Heart. She plans to attend college at Oklahoma State University and become an entrepreneur. 

Madelyn Sherman, 17, is the daughter of Rob and Shanon Sherman. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing ballet to a Copelia variation as her talent. She has been involved with dance, cheer, UIL, Key Club, student council, National Honor Society (Vice President), First Baptist Church and Rotary Youth Leadership. She plans to attend college and pursue a career in physical therapy. 

Sallee Spraggins, 16, is the daughter of Ben and Amy Spraggins. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing “Below My Feet” on piano as her talent. She has been involved with Deanna Spraggins Piano Studio, Ardis School of Performing Arts, 3 years as a member of the Blue Blazes, varsity choir, praise and worship team, Royal Elite dance team, National Honor Society, Bowie Book Buddies, student youth leader at One Church, 3-year finalist at state solo and ensemble. After graduation she plans to attend college. 

Olivia Worth, 18, is the daughter of Jessica and Chris Worth. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing a 1950s-themed tap dance to “Rockin’ Robin” as her talent. She has been involved in drill team boot camp, dance, captain of the Blue Blazes and elite competition team, Hi King Klub, HOSA, National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society. In the future she plans to continue to dance at Texas A&M-Commerce while furthering a career in nursing. 

Jocelyne Yanez, 17, is the daughter of Juan Manuel and Cris Yanez. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing “Amazing Grace” on flute as her talent. She has been involved in Hi-King Klub, Blue Blazes, FCCLA, National Honor Society, is a class officer, St. James Youth Group, has received the leadership award and has twice received the blue and gold award. In the future she plans to go to college and study to become an immigration lawyer. 

Khira Young, 17, is the daughter of Matt and Jamie Young. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing “Feeling Good” on bass as her talent. She has been involved with Sulphur Springs Youth Orchestra, Shining Star Productions, Girl Scouts, spring work camp, FCCLA, National Honor Society, National Thespian Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, she is secretary of student council and president of SSHS theater, and is in youth leadership at First United Methodist Church. In the future she plans to attend college and major in music therapy. 

Vanessa Wayne, 17, is the daughter of LaDale Wayne and Erika Enriquez. She attends Sulphur Springs High School. She will be performing a cheer dance routine as her talent. She has been involved in Varsity cheer, Hi-King Klub, Key Club, HOSA, Student Council, Class officer for 2 years, Varsity Soccer, Varsity Track – 2 Time Area Track Qualifier. She plans to attend college to pursue a career in the medical field.
